June 17, 1972 - The "plumbers" broke into Democratic National Committee Headquarters in the Watergate complex, in the course of what President Nixon would later describe as a "third rate burglary," in an attempt by the Republican Party to illegally wiretap the opposition.
But, "Watergate does not bother me. Does your conscience bother you? (Tell the truth.)"
