In most cases, this will happen after the team has had to defend deep into their own half, and then regain possession of the ball. The defenders then basically give the forwards time to get upfield and for everyone else to regain their position by passing the ball around at the back. The fact that they get a breather is probably just a bonus.
Glad the boys in orange picked up a win against the Danes. I wasn't super impressed with the first half. Not nearly enough decisive play from the Dutch. They looked like they had run out of ideas pretty early in the game. I couldn't watch the 2nd half (argghh work) but I'll catch the highlights later.
