Ray Harryhausen
Before the advent of CGI, Ray Harryhausen's pioneering use of stop-motion animation influenced filmmakers like Henry Selick, Nick Park, and, of course, Tim Burton. Taking his own inspiration from the work of Willis O'Brien (who created the stop-motion animation for the original King Kong), Harryhausen worked for some fifty years as a stop-motion animator, creating some of the most exhilarating and unimaginable sights in film history, including those in The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad, Jason and the Argonauts, and the original Clash of the Titans.
