Reading the bits coming from scientists and academics regarding the impact of the oil and the continuing problems of its still spewing into the ocean (the rate at which it spews, and how long it might take to stop it), I have a rather frightening sense that they're coming to a consensus, whether consciously or not: This is likely become the greatest environmental disaster in American history.
We're not nearly as alarmed as we should be, probably because it's happening in slow motion.
