CDMA > GSM
CDMA is better for reliability as far as calls go. GSM is a lot less complicated though and allows for better battery life etc but I'd rather have a phone on a charger with reliability than better battery life and dropped calls.
And, maybe Verizon is more $ in Chitown, but here, AT&T is by far the most expensive carrier.
