I have only looked at one in detail (but many superficially) and I thought it was beautiful because when I part the lips there is a perfect little orchid.
Also, I thinking that the shaven/unshaven thing is all about personal preference. I don't really like hair in general so I am usually pretty smooth all over (I really love the feeling of smooth skin).
And...being smooth down there leads to more stimulation in my experience...
