I think the example of
Kick-Ass was a good one.
It opens today, and the advance reviews are coming in. I'm intrigued because it's getting positive reviews (even in the
Globe and Mail of all places

). Some are calling it tongue-in-cheek, others are calling it slightly disturbing (re: the potty-mouthed lethal 11-year-old). It is generally accepted as action-packed and ultraviolent.
What's most interesting to me at this point is that Roger Ebert found it "morally reprehensible." Metacritic gauged his review with a 25 out of 100.
