i'm not too much of a gun fanatic, even if i was born n raised in the great state of texas. what is this gun? (not me in the photo, fyi) my friend went out and shot it with some buddies, she came back and was like "i don't remember what it was."

it looks like an M16, but i can't find any particular models that look quite like that, particularly on the part of the sight closer to the eye. i'm sure someone here will know instantly. thanks!
