I've read this article in the Australian papers about a woman who suspected that her husband was cheating on her, so she burnt his penis because 'it belonged to her'.
In the process she burnt the house down, her husband succumbed to his injuries and died a few weeks later, and she racked up a massive bill against her.
She's pleaded not guilty to murder.
so what does TFP think? does a mans penis belong to his partners once they sign some papers? or vice versa?
She is using the notion that people are chattels, and thus can be owned, bought or sold. Her husband on the other hand wasnt 'sold' to her, but rather had a contractual agreement with her. if she doesnt own the person, she certainly cannot own one of his organs. This doesnt give anyone the right to assault another person irrespective of cause.
This quote from another article gave me a chuckle
Quote:
"I'm a jealous wife, his penis should belong to me, I just wanted to burn his penis so it belongs to me and no one else.
"It's just his penis I wanted to burn, I didn't mean this to happen."

i personally think they should throw the book at her regardless whether her suspicions about her husband were true.

Said 'his penis should belong to me' - court hears
A South Australia woman has pleaded not guilty to murder after allegedly setting her husband's genitals alight, The Advertiser reported Monday.
Rajini Narayan, 44, appeared in the Supreme Court in Adelaide Monday where she also pleaded not guilty to arson.
The mother of three allegedly set fire to her husband's genitals in December, 2008, concerned he was cheating on her.
Satish Narayan suffered serious burns and died in hospital from his injuries several weeks later.
The fire also gutted the family's Adelaide home, leaving a damage bill of about one million dollars.
A previous court hearing was told Ms Narayan had told neighbours: "I'm a jealous wife, his penis should belong to me".
"I just wanted to burn his penis so it belongs to me and no-one else."
Justice John Sulan adjourned the case for four weeks, allowing Ms Narayan bail to appear again in May.
