All the lawyers I've known
knew that they would become lawyers, at least by freshman year of college. They didn't just "think it might be a good idea". My sister considered it, then took a year or 6 months or something as a paralegal before applying to law school. That was enough for her to determine that she wasn't going to be a lawyer.
