As for the role of recon, I think you are completely underestimating it Shauk. I know I complained earlier about the sniper rifles, but my mind is completely changed. In conquest I can often single handedly hold a flag from the right position with the sniper, and in rush I can usually keep one of the objectives clean on defense, especially after the tanks have opened up the walls. On offense you are a little more limited, however you can keep people clear of a set charge, and again its a lot easier if the walls hae been blown out by tanks. You just have to be more concerned about winning the round than personal stats.
Anywho, still loving the game, best so far in the BF series.

That's the thing, for me, the most effective path to playing this game long term is to stop playing stuff once you've maxed it out (like i'm max recon/assault/vehicle right now, so i need to work on my engineer and medic.
after that it's about points per game, and for that, classes that have support roles are the way to go usually. (it may vary from map to map)
I still feel there are only really 2 (maybe 3) maps big enough to require the range that a 12x scope brings you.
when weighing the advantages of each class vs another, it makes me wonder why I would choose a class that weak in close quarters and lacks a unique support function (it's all about the points maaaaan!) vs anything else.
I find the number one class right now that I want to stab in the stupid face are medics.
I get mowed down by them more than any other because with access to the 4x scope and the ammo upgrade, coupled with freaking 100 BULLETS before they have to reload = ultimate spray & pray.
It's gotten to the point while I level that I just tag along with a light level medic or something and wait for them to die, grab their kit, res them, and play as a medic while I level something else
yeah so right now my play patch is, points for class unlocks, followed by points for leveling to 50 or whatever (play whatever is suited to your situation), followed by play to win I guess? I guess if I don't care about points or leveling then I'd play recon to cover mcoms or flags, but I dunno, a high K/D ratio doesn't get you anything in this game, nor does winning or losing aside from a handful of bonus points.
