I'm not what anybody would call a huge sports fan, but tomorrow night my cousin is taking me to the Kansas at Nebraska women's basketball game.
Kansas is my home state team, but the Huskers have always been my favorite! I enjoy women's basketball because it seems like men's BB has degenerated into a jammfest with not much subtlety or finesse in the game anymore.
Just get some 6' 12" gorilla to jam it through the hoop with both hands
.
Be that as it may, the women's game is a lot more fun to watch,in my opinion. Nebraska wasn't even supposed to be very good this year. At the beginning of the season, the Nebraska Women were picked by the Big 12 Coaches to finish 6th in the Big 12 (toughest conference in the country, by far) but the Huskers not only won the Big 12 Title, but are now undefeated at 27-0 and ranked third nationally.
With 20 of those wins by 10 points or more, and beating 8 teams ranked in the top 20. This is truly a team that came out of nowhere.
The only other unbeaten women's team is Connecticut. It would be great to see a Huskies-Huskers NCAA national title game!
After the game I'll have a couple of red beers and some great Nebraska beef prime rib at a place called Misty's. I've never had better prime rib.
Then we'll get on the midnight Amtrak California Zephyr out of Lincoln, and go out to Glenwood Springs Colorado for a few days of skiing and general goofing off.
