 Hmm, I normally play RPGs decisions based on what feels morally right to me. I would classify myself as a lawful neutral with good leanings, so I never maxed out my Paragon score enough to be able to convince either Jack or Zaeed to let their grudges go.
The above is also why I would have liked a more obscure Paragon/Renegade system, since Good/Evil choices just are too easy. 
I'm in my second playthrough now, on Hardcore, and I must say that combat is a much more engaging and enjoyable experience. Before I thought that this was an excellent RPG with subpar shooter sections, but now I appreciate it so much more. I might lose interest though - couldn't get through a second Dragon Age playthrough either.
