I'm aware of the "customs" of what they may have stood for, Poppinjay, hence referring to what they appeared to be, but I'm just stating that if the picture doesn't have a clear message of action or inaction (which the image just shows a woman couple topless, no flowers in hand or anything), then the image is just that of two women in another era being topless outdoors because that was what was expected of them.
I'm not meaning to hop on Pop (man, how grinworthy is my face right now given that I managed to think of this funny) but if I were to post an image of three hippies fully nude sitting inside a Wendy's munching on burgers on frothing their bodies with shakes, (which I may or may not actually possess) it'd feel disproprotionate to this thread's aim, given that my scenario makes no equivocal sense to post at all, other than featuring hippies.
