Curiosity is a powerful thing, and the ability to satisfy that curiosity without consequence...well, it seems like a legitimate answer to me. Hell, I'd probably indulge in a bit of snooping myself.
Now, it seems to me that I would do the following:
1) Establish myself in a largish facility, preferably with a garage bay (like a Walmart).
2) Grab a large panel truck from a dealer.
3) Loot an automotive store for tires for it, as well as oil and other fluids.
4) Get to the library and grab a bunch of texts on auto repair, survival, farming, canning/preserving, hunting, medicine, and gun repair/ammo.
5) Go to the local guns and ammo stores and loot like a sonofabitch.
6) Go to as many pharmacies as I can. Loot medical supplies like a sonofabitch.
7) Go to the local groceries, convenience stores, etc., and loot all of the canned foodstuffs, pop, beer, bottled water. Grab other food items that can last for a reasonable time as well.
8) Loot the local ag-stores for seed, tools, rototillers, etc.
9) Map out the local fruit orchards, berry farms, etc., for harvesting when they come due.
9) Map out the local farms, and monitor them to see what - if any - food crops they might still be producing. Also, use those farms as hunting/trapping locations.
10) Find some land near to my compound, clear it, and plant food crops.
11) Once established, take the truck to a larger city and use the Yellow Pages to find businesses that sold solar and/or wind generation equipment. Loot those businesses so I can have enough replacement tech on hand to generate throughout the remainder of my life.
12) Look for similar businesses that sell batteries that can store that generated power. Loot like a sonofabitch.
13) Install my wind/solar generation equipment. Install batteries.
14) Once I have accumulated the "necessities", acquire alternate modes of travel: a hybrid maybe, a decent motorcycle (not a street bike), some good mountain bikes.
All of that might take a year or so. Once I am settled, I might actually travel a bit, in the hopes of finding others. At some point, however, I expect that I would become lonely, frustrated, angry - and that might lead me to thoughts of suicide. I know how much of a coward I am though, so I would probably tough it out until I got sick and died, got injured and died, or just plain old died.

Reason: Numbering was duplicated on some steps :)
