I can understand the desire to experiment. I tried speed, coke, acid (LSD) and the yucky-tasting' shrooms. And I disagree that substituting alcohol is a better alternative to _ anything_.
My opinion of speed is that I felt a not-terribly-pleasant super- adrenaline rush and felt totally burnt-out afterwards. Coke was very alluring, but again, felt fried after. I agree, if you are going to do anything, do the 'shrooms first. The 'shrooms were trippy, like acid, but a more mellow trip, hard to put into words- they weren't as *hard* as acid.
IMO, if I had to do it over again, I wouldn't bother with any pharmaceuticals. They felt too medicinal.
And tho' you didn't ask, the easiest drugs to abuse are tobacco & alcohol - legal & easy to get. I'm not gonna argue with folks on this, but tobacco is the hardest drug to kick. It's highly hypocritical to have booze & tobacco legal, when 'shrooms, of which I've seen no evidence of addictive qualities, are illegal- but that's another thread.
