You will still get the new URL's popping up, but if you go back to the original image on the first page and 'click' it again you may have better luck.
Most of the time you will have to 'click' 4 or 5 times on the same image to get to the intended gallery. Some will never get you there, but most will click through to what you want to see.
I like the 'open in a new tab' option because it is much faster to simply close the new tab, than it is to 'go back' and have to wait for the previous page to re-load.
