Although I'm certain that we've had this conversation before, I'm gonna have another go of it. Yes, a flag is made of cloth. But it's not the "cloth" to which you are showing respect. It's the symbolism behind those specifically placed bits of
color 
that seperates a flag from a common washcloth.
Also;
A.) the flag does not have to come down at sundown, provided that it is properly illuminated.
And;
B.) A flag does not have to be burned if it touches the ground. It can be laundered. It does, however, have to be "retired" (burned) when it becomes too faded, soiled, or torn to be serviceable.
