1080 is the resolution. 1920x1080. Most large TVs at 40 and bigger will be that resolution. anything smaller is usually 1360x768. or 1280x720.
Interlace or Progressive. progressive will give you a much clearer picture! The 1080i should not even be considered when looking for blueray players or TVs.
btw: the ps3 is the best player available for the price.
