You may have to go through the connection setup process again. Incorrect choices during that process can screw things up. How do you connect to the internet?
I also just set up an Asus P4P800. I connect through a DSL router connected to a DSL modem. I'm running win2k so my connection process may be a little different, but I basically answered no to most questions. Mine connected first time, which did actually surprise me.
