Mine:
We live on a cooperative farm. Everyone owns their own home on the edge of shared acreage that we use to grow as much of our own food as possible. The house we built is a result of collaboration with an architect--truly a custom home. It's neither too big nor too small. There are three bedrooms, one of which is a master suite with an adjoining bathroom. The bathroom has an enormous shower, custom-tiled, with a glass enclosure. It has showerheads that face one another, a rain feature, and other bells and whistles, as well as a low bench along the wall of the shower. Next to the shower is a deep Japanese-style bath. The great thing about this house is the space. The children have their own play area in a loft-like space that overlooks the living room, just outside of their bedrooms. Downstairs, there is a library where our books line the walls. The kitchen is really where everyone likes to gather. We have an island topped with granite--perfect for rolling out pie crusts. I love our house because it isn't too big to keep clean, nor is there any unused space.
When we aren't at home, we can be found at the coast in a small cob house, set back in the woods. It is a short hike to an isolated beach from there. We also spend time at our other small house in Bend.
