I second this. Office for Mac is great, and there is even an XML conversion tool you can get for opening those pain-in-the-ass Microsoft DOCX documents, which otherwise wouldn't be backwards compatible. Mind you, I'm using 2004, not 2008, so it might not even be an issue.

I've tried using OpenOffice; I've even loaded it on my PC, which doesn't have MS Office, and for a number of reasons, I just don't like using it.
