Yup - I learned to drive on manual transmissions - from my Grandfather's Packard with a "3 on the tree" to my first car - a '65 Le Mans with a "4 on the floor."
Hell - even from 1997-2005 I drove a Ford Ranger that had a 5-speed manual transmission. Much better mileage if you've only got 4 cylinders.
