If you are worried about STDs or other blood based diseases, I would stay away from doing this. Correct me if I am wrong, but menstrual blood is still blood so it caries the same risk of AIDS transfer as kissing someone with a cut in their mouth. You could use a dental dam, but I'm guess it would look like someone plastic-wrapped one of those blood pellets and then smashed it.
