Our dog a retreiver/chow mix runs free all the time and only leaves the yard to chase deer into the woods sometimes. She prefers to sleep inside the house every night which is a good thing with all the coyotes around here.
We have a cat door for our cat and she comes and goes as she pleases. The only time she leaves the yard is to hunt in the woods. I worry about her at night sometimes but she is pretty stealthy in order to avoid the coyotes. Our dog is so friendly, she will try to play with the coyotes.
