No, like I said, not as a rule. But sometimes it appears that way...especially when accompanied by the wearing of clothing that was meant for far younger women.
Ultimately, though, it doesn't really matter. To each his own. For as many lengths and styles there are of hair for women, there are just as many reasons for choosing one out of them all for yourself.
I will reiterate, though,
I would not be comfortable wearing hair
far below my shoulders at my age. Not only that, but I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of long hair at my age, either. Which could account for some of the frequency of shorter hair on older women. I know it's true for my mother who wears her hair very short - she just doesn't want to be bothered with it.
