Page 2-34 of the P4P800 user's manual. I assembled one last week - piece of cake. The leads coming from the front of your case should be labelled. Just make sure you get the Pos and Neg connections right. The + and - might even be labelled on the leads. Colored wire (red, green, etc.) is usually positive, white and black are negative. If the leads aren't marked at all, you can just pick each one and follow it up to where it starts - Power led, IDE led, Reset Switch, etc.
BoCo's right. You could crush the heat sensor if you put it between. You could always put it on your graphics processor or elsewhere in your case. The P4P800 has a cpu heat sensor built-in.
