Veneers are either porcelain or resin. There's no living tissue to preserve, and nothing to save.
Call around in the morning and get some quotes. It's my understanding that composite veneers are rather affordable, but don't last as long as the porcelain kind (and neither one lasts for ever -- wear and tear eventually take their toll).
Affordable, of course, is a relative term. This is probably going to cost a minimum of $300. Another option to inquire about is any sort of payment plan offered. You may be able to do it installments. I have no idea if such a thing is done in dentistry as a rule, as I've never had any cosmetic work done myself, but it can't hurt to ask.
Either way, I seriously doubt you'll be able to get it repaired in time for the weekend. I think you're just going to have to resolve yourself to celebrating your birthday with a broken tooth. Perspective, though -- there are definitely worse ways to go through it, and your friends or family aren't likely to care all that much.
