Most Memorable Lines from Westerns

I already did this thread, but it was 6 years ago and it didn't really take off. Maybe the second time will be the charm. These are my 11 favorite, most memorable lines from movie westerns. I know there are tons more, but I didn't want to take up all of them.

1. Dyin' ain't much of a living, boy! – The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976)

Josey Wales meets up with a bounty hunter who’s looking for him. When Wales asks if he’s a bounty hunter, the man shrugs and says that a man’s got to do something for a living.

2. "All right now, I'm comin' out. Any man I see out there, I'm gonna shoot him. Any sumbitch takes a shot at me, I'm not only gonna kill him, but I'm gonna kill his wife. All his friends. Burn his damn house down." - Unforgiven (1993)

Gunslinger Bill Munny calls out this warning to anyone who may be waiting for him in the street outside the saloon.

3. "Fill your hand you son-of-a-bitch" - True Grit (1969)

“One-eyed fat man” Marshall Rooster Cogburn calls out this final warning to Ned Pepper and his gang before he rides into their midst all alone.

4. "When you have to shoot, shoot, don't talk." -- The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly (1966)

Tuco can’t even enjoy a relaxing bath without being interrupted by a gunslinger who talks too much. When Tuco gets tired of listening to the man tell him what he’s going to do to him, Tuco shoots him and delivers this line.

5. "We deal in lead, friend." – The Magnificent Seven (1960)

When the outlaw Calvera wants to know exactly what the American gunslingers are up to, Vin explains it rather succinctly.

6. "Are you gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?" -- The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976)

Ex-confederate guerilla fighter and wanted outlaw Josey Wales finds himself in a border town with a price on his head, and confronted on the sidewalk by four Union soldiers who aren’t sure what to do with their weapons.

7. "Well, that damned Cuban cigar got me riled up." – Open Range (2003)

Boss Spearman and Charley Waite are pleasantly surprised to learn that Percy, the old man running the livery stable, has jumped into the gunfight on their side. However, when they ask him why he’s hobbling, he explains how a new cigar might have been the culprit.

8. "Well he should have armed himself if he’s going to decorate his saloon with my friend." – Unforgiven (1992)

Bill Munny confronts the owner of the saloon where he found the body of his friend, Ned Logan, defiled and on display. Once Munny establishes who owns the saloon, he kills him with a shotgun blast, and the sheriff informs him that he’s just shot an unarmed man.

9. "Oh, I know, I'm gonna use good judgment. I haven't lost my temper in 40 years. But Pilgrim, you caused a lot of trouble this morning, mighta got somebody killed. And somebody ought to belt you in the mouth. But I won't. I won't. Aw, the hell, I won't!"
McLintock! (1963)

Cattle baron George Washington McLintock has a confrontation with a troublesome land-grabber. This famous line (and resultant punch) is followed by one of the greatest western mud fights ever filmed.

10. "If he'd just pay me what he's paying them to stop me from robbing him, I'd stop robbing him!" -- Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)

Butch Cassidy has grown used to token resistance in his robberies of the Union Pacific Railroad, and it really starts to bother him when the company’s president starts implementing some aggressive (and expensive) pro-active security procedures specifically designed to thwart Butch.

11. "I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughing. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it." -- For A Few Dollars More (1965)

When Monco rides into town on his mule, several desperados taunt and tease him. They eventually start firing shots at the feet of his mule, causing it to race down the town’s main street while they laugh. When Monco dismounts, he tells the undertaker to prepare three coffins and then confronts the men to set things right between them and his mule.
