I've only had five teeth come out by themselves... and I don't remember how.
The rest weren't "lost"... they were ripped, cracked or jackhammered out of my head.
Kinda gross, actually.
I did wake up in the middle of my wisdom tooth extraction... they had to chip holes in my jaw to get the roots off the bone. That was memorable. And hideous.
