Its been almost 4 years, but I dont feel like retyping so I will repost my proposal story from my website
Exactly two weeks before the wedding...
I got the proposal I never had
As most of you know....Dave took my ering away from me several weeks ago after I, yet again, got "depressed" upon hearing about a friends engagement.
We never did the "proposal" thing....we knew we wanted to marry (he asked one nite while having sex) and a year and a half later I finally found the ring I wanted to wear for the rest of my life.
He decided that even with the wedding day coming in about a month it wasnt too late and he took my ring....to be given back to me at a later date
One of my favorite things to go to, besides the renaissance fair is the Stone Mountain Highland Games which are held here every year in October. He had never been.....he couldnt go with me the last two years because in 2003 he was in Florida working and last year he was in Germany working.
So....today.....after the opening ceremonies of the games, after I got to hear Alex Beaton sing and see ALL the pipe bands play almost at one time...he did it. EVEN THOUGH I had thought all along he'd do it at one of two times....at the games or on the 18th (which is our dating anniversary). He found out that's what I thought (thanks RatBastid lol )though, so I kinda forgot about it and figured he'd wait and do it at the rehearsal dinner hehehe (he knew I wanted a public thing)
We were standing there waiting for the opening ceremonies to be over to watch all the pipe bands march out....when they started I felt him tugging on me...couldn't figure out why...I thought maybe he was trying to get me to move...so I turned around to find out what he wanted and that's when he dropped to one knee and proceeded to ask me to marry him (at least I think that's what he said, cause the bagpipes were so loud I couldn't hear a single word he said)
There were people around everywhere watching as he put the ring back on my finger and I was trying not to cry because he really did catch me off guard....AND he did it while I was surrounded by the music I love from the pipes AND while I was surrounded by men in kilts.
If I'd planned it myself I couldn't have even done that good. He gave me exactly what I wanted.
One of the pipe bands playing for the opening ceremonies at the games is the pipe band I took lessons from (that's not the interesting part). Well the bagpiper that I've never actually met in person (we got his demo tape and references etc) but hired for the wedding, was at the games Saturday playing with THAT pipeband....so he was actually marching by us piping when Dave proposed hehehe
Not only is he piping for us for the wedding, he was also piping for our proposal.....I just think thats SO neat.
We'd seen him walking around earlier and we "thought" it was him but we weren't sure and I didn't want to look stupid walking up to him and I thought he played with a different pipe band and the guy we saw was wearing the wrong tartan (or so I thought). Cause it was the John Mohr Mac band and I thought he played with Atlanta Bagpipers.
When I emailed him this morning to ask if he'd been there he told me yes and that he'd been playing with the john mohr mac band and that he'd marched right by us while Dave was proposing.
here are a few pics from that day....I dont think I've ever posted them
the 1st gives you an *idea* of how many pipers there were, and its not even all of them, the 2nd was a *recreation* on the paddle boat ride we took that day and the 3rd is on the same boat
