Dude, you can get a house from the get-go. And they're free. Only furniture and expansions cost money.
And I'm just messing around too. I have a paladin on a PVE server. I really want to create a priest on a PVP server. Maybe Grimdal. Stay tuned...I'll let you know when I get started and where.
