And maybe to me it was all the foreign languages and having to read the dialogue that made it feel longer, like a more delayed reaction.
The bastards scenes with the talking i thought much more enjoyable.

Pulp Fiction has, in hindsight, more start power but if you look at it when it was released it was really only Bruce Willis and Christopher Walken that were stars at the time. The rest of the cast were either unknowns (Ving Rhames), washed up former stars (Travolta), or recognizable actors with no star power (Sam Jackson at the time). Pulp was what made them stars.
