know you're ready and be able to imagine being a nonsmoker. Convince yourself -- your brain is in complete control.
DISCLAIMER: Yes, I'm still smoking. But the one time I did quit for more than a week or two, my head was in that strong place where I knew I could and would do it.
Which brings me to my second point. Find a new stress response. I had quit for over three months and was feeling great. As an emotional response to a very trying situation, I just wanted a quick hit. So I must remind you (and me

) that smoking is akin to alcoholism. Don't touch another one once you've decided you're ready.
