Coaching? Better nutrition in otherwise impoverished nations? Improved training facilities? Moving athletes away from other sports (in the West Indies cricket is a good example) and into track? The money that is now on offer for top track athletes? More Caribean athletes on scolarships to top US colleges? A growing belief within Caribean (and specifically Jamaican) society that they are the greatest of runners?
What is the reason the Kenyans and Ethiopians are dominant in middle and longer distance races? The Brits, Scandanavians, and Americans were once quite good at those distances ...
