Could just be denial.
My friend's father drove an ambulance. He had one case where a girl came home to find her brother in the shower, dead. He had hung himself and cut his wrists. As soon as she sees it, she goes into shock and denial. She goes out to a bar, meeting her friends. She picks up. Her and the guy go back to her house. The guy goes to the bathroom...
The guy called both the police and for an ambulance.
