I'm sticking with it, because I genuinely like the actors. I am not a real fan of the plot line so far. I sit there and ask, "So what?" The twin kids angle is forced, and they are written badly.
Down-on-your-luck comedy/drama can be funny, I think... Where is this going? Obviously the next door neighbor is going to be a friction thing, and the ex-wife is trying to get along and all that stuff...
Are they trying to do too much? Is this a drama or a comedy? If it is both, then shouldn't they be a little bit more clear? The fact that I can't figure it out makes this flawed from the start.
I don't think that this going to last for long, unless the writing starts pushing the audience in the right direction.
HBO is getting a little lazy, I think, and they think that people are going to watch just because they can curse and it is commercial-free. They need to learn that it is the writing and acting that keep the audiences, not the occasional f-bomb or nipple on screen.
