Not necessarily, but perhaps the physician is expecting too much out of a PARENT who should know their child's medical history.
If extra tests need to be done for a condition such as brittle bone, it is NOT going to be done in an emergency room - those cases get referred to specialists for reasons. Emergency room physicians are TRAUMA physicians, and refer to specialists for further testing and diagnoses if the problem is not something easily solved.
In this case, the emergency room physician referred to a specialist in the form of child services to research the child's traumatic injury. I personally think it was a good call.
