I used to want to save the world. These days I give to beggars much less often. The ones who I am bothered by are the ones who seem to have a sense of entitlement.
EDIT - I believe that the term busking (and the related noun, busker) is mostly unused within the US, although it's quite common elsewhere. A busker is a performer. Busking is a career choice, albeit one of questionable legitimacy.

I'm with you. If some lazy ass mentally unstable mooch wants my dollar, I dangle it in front of him/her and make them do a little tap dance. The best part is the pride they feel in knowing they earned that dollar. Plus, it gives the tourists and bystanders a little free entertainment. I'll throw in an extra quarter if they're in a wheel chair or missing a limb.
