Yeah usually if you see 'hand-dipped,' walk away. 'Hand-rolled' is often a good sign. Anything black (charcoal based) is poop.
Not sure if it's like this everywhere, but I noticed some Indian-owned gas stations here are starting to sell samples of the good stuff. Nice way to try before you buy in larger sizes.
