Lars and the Real Girl 8.5/10

quirky as the story is, I loved the way human interaction and relationships are at the fore of this movie, down to the tiniest gestures and details. A quiet movie with great intensity. It really makes you empathize with the characters. Great acting here, very real, awkward and raw.

Let the Right One In - 9.5/10

I was tempted to give this 10/10 but held back. Not sure why. This is an excellent, inspired film. It has vampires, but it's not a vampire movie. It follows the life of a child but it's soo not about children. It's about coming of age, it's about relationships, about loyalty and dedication, it's about telling a great story, and it's about breaking and questioning convention. From the actors to the plot to the photography, I have the highest respect for this movie. The dialogue, though sparse, says only what it is important to know. It has a sharpness that is riveting all throughout. I usually hate films where there is blood and gore, but this movie, while having some scenes of that kind, is able to execute them in such a beautiful, well thought out way, that you are actually waiting for the next piece of genius that these moments are, to occur. Amazing, could watch it over and over. And I never say that.

We are ever unapparent. What we are
Cannot be transfused into word or book.
Our soul from us is infinitely far.
However much we give our thoughts the will
To be our soul and gesture it abroad,
Our hearts are incommunicable still.
In what we show ourselves we are ignored.
The abyss from soul to soul cannot be bridged
By any skill of thought or trick of seeming.
Unto our very selves we are abridged
When we would utter to our thought our being.
We are our dreams of ourselves, souls by gleams,
And each to each other dreams of others' dreams.
