Yes Nick I think that's a picture of the old fort. There's lots of them down here so it's kind of hard to tell. But I think that's it. If it is picture it's from the back and down of the street below. Here's one from the courtyard in front of the fort.

I also found this snip from Phil's Wiki's link interesting-

Quote:
On September 16, 1862, President Juárez declared that the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla would be a national holiday, regarded as "Battle of Puebla Day" or "Battle of Cinco de Mayo". Although today it is recognized in some countries as a day of Mexican heritage celebration, it is not a federal holiday in Mexico. A common misconception in the United States is that Cinco de Mayo is Mexico's Independence Day, which actually is September 16 (dieciséis de septiembre in Spanish), the most important national patriotic holiday in Mexico.
Until moving down here I always thought May 5th was a big Mexican holiday. In fact my first year here I asked my neighbor if she had any big plans for tomorrow (it was the 4th.) "No why?" "Well tomorrow's Cinco de Mayo." "So?"
