I'm highly skeptical of anyone who claims that texting while driving is not a distraction.
The whole medium is a bit too detached and impersonal for my tastes. It does have it's uses in sending short, discrete messages; but I also reject it on principle due to what I consider to be abusive practices by the carriers.
Cellular service in Canada is a bit of a joke across the board. The things are too damn useful to discard entirely, but I try to limit my level of participation.
