The expiration time of a cookie is set when the page is visited. Changing the value now would do no good.
Lets say the next person to use that computer visits TFP, they would be using the cookie as you, then when they left, the new cookie would have an expiration time of whatever the new value would be.
In short, at least one person would be able to visit the site as you.
When using public machines, don't tell the site to remember you and don't let the machine save your password.
