I am generally a controlled person so I can go without internet for a few days in a row. It depends on what's going on online that might make me want to check things more often! A few years ago I moved house and was stuck with no TV for a few weeks. I went a little mad then. At first I thought it would be good for me to have time away from it. But after a while I was just annoyed. I think it's great to have no mod cons for a time...it really makes you re-think what you spend your time on, and it gets your mind working more, because there's extra time to do other things. In your case Hal, if you're stuck at a wedding that definitely limits your options. Horse-riding? outdoor sports (frisbee, running, ball sports)? Take photographs, hike? Swimming (if there is a lake or pool)? Have interesting conversations with other guests? Hope that helps

Whether we write or speak or do but look
We are ever unapparent. What we are
Cannot be transfused into word or book.
Our soul from us is infinitely far.
However much we give our thoughts the will
To be our soul and gesture it abroad,
Our hearts are incommunicable still.
In what we show ourselves we are ignored.
The abyss from soul to soul cannot be bridged
By any skill of thought or trick of seeming.
Unto our very selves we are abridged
When we would utter to our thought our being.
We are our dreams of ourselves, souls by gleams,
And each to each other dreams of others' dreams.
Fernando Pessoa, 1918
