Over here, almost ALL shops have carts that require you to put a coin in to release the catch.
Which means if you want the coin back, you have to bring the cart back and secure it.

Seems like a small cost/big reward idea that I figured most stores would have taken up by now...


And yes, it's mostly laziness that it doesn't get put back. Especially if you're doing the shopping all alone. If there's 2 of you, it's more convenient, 1 drives the car, the other puts the cart back.
I doubt that's why you suck as a nation though
