In a bit of irony, now my other older system has decided to die (as in not even go to POST)

just days after this lovely new Athlon dual core arrived.
Egads, might have to drag my old P4 1.5 Ghz northwood system out of retirement just to replace it. Hopefully I can fix it tomorrow.
