I disagree on the air dry. It makes my hair look flat on top and the curls, though they may be unfrizzed, look a bit stuck together.
A diffuser is perfect, or a set of velcro rollers with a hair-drying bonnet work well for that extra salon-hair factor.
I find a diffuser gives me the volume I need and also doesn't frizz my hair up. The rollers and bonnet make it silkier and more stylish, though sitting for 30 mins with it on is a hassle.
