Albums everyone owns but you don't.
EDIT: The name should read ALBUMS 'EVERYONE' OWNS BUT DON'T; albums that everyone knows, like The Police's Synchronicity, or The Eagles' Hotel California, that should be a part of someones collection. Most of the time "cannon art" goes unseen/unread etc.
Similar idea to my other thread with the opposite intention. I always find "cannon art" often goes unheard, unwatched, unread, etc. Everyone has had that conversation with a friend that ends with "What?! You haven't _____ed ________?!" What are some classics (like books or films) that you know need to be a part of anyone's collection.
Mine:
London Calling - The Clash [Incredible english rock romp that goes from skewering social commentary to tongue-in-cheek pokes at the youth of the era. A step forward, I think, in punk-rock. Agressive, drum laden, bass heavy rock and roll with a twist of arrogance]
Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys [Harmony laden pop at it's best. Piano lines skip in and out of songs; organs pull on others. Shifts in and out of reminiscence, nostalgia and hope. It doesn't make me think of sunsets or wayfairers, rather small intimate moments that scream life. All of the songs are memorable and worth listening to over and over again]
Parallel Lines - Blondie [Debbie Harry and crew captures a generation's access and distaste with said instant gratification; new york indifference. Sorrowful and hook heavy]
Other notables:
Songs From The Big Chair - Tears For Fears
Hotel California - The Eagles
Rumors - Fleetwood Mac
