I dont think anyone objects to Ronaldo throwing his shirt on the floor because he is pissed off with being subbed, the same as any real football fan wasnt upset with Drogba's reaction to losing the other night.
The issue fans have with both players is that they cheat.
I think in a way its a bit worse with Drogba, because he is so strong and when he stands up and plays he is almost immovable, which makes it all the more ridiculous when he goes tumbling down: but Ronaldo is a more blatant cheat in my opinion.
Until the authorities really stamp down on it the cheats will carry on though, because the risks (they might get a yellow) dont out way the chance of winning a pen or getting an opponent sent off.
I'd like to see the same rules apply to diving and simulation as do to serious foul play... ie - review by video after the game and if someone is clearly shown to have dived issue a 3 match ban.
Also, just like in rugby, properly enforce and enforce straight away the 10 yards rule (which they tried and abandoned a few years ago). (ie any dissent and the free kick if reversed or moved forwards ten yards, and the player is told in no uncertain terms "shut up or you'll get a yellow")
My feeling is that after a few weeks a few free kicks 25 yards out getting marched into the area and changed to pens, players might start showing the refs some respect.
